3M™ Tape 55 is a polyester film/nonwoven composite electrical tape for coil covers, end turns, lead pads and crossover insulation.

3M™ 55 Composite Film Electrical Tape is a polyester-web-reinforced polyester film coated with a pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive. Edge-tear and puncture resistant with excellent electrical properties, it is tough and conformable. It is 0.18 mm thick and is best used for coil cover, lead pad, core, layer and crossover insulation. This tape is especially well suited for use as a coil cover and for end turns.
